March commemorating the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence went through Warsaw peacefully; there were some incidents but only few, the chief of the Prime Minister's Chancellery (KPRM) Michał Dworczyk said on Monday in TVN24.
On Sunday, a march under the White-and-Red flag, led by President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki flag went through the streets of downtown Warsaw. The procession was named "For You Poland" and was organised to celebrate the centennial of Poland's independence. The police say that some 250,000 people took part in the event.
"I think we should be glad that the biggest march since 1989 went peacefully, that we managed to unite and pay tribute to those who fought and won the 100 years of independence of the Republic of Poland. We are very happy that we were able to celebrate this anniversary together," said Dworczyk.
Asked about a European Union flag being burnt during the march, the KPRM chief dubbed it an incident; he underscored incidents of this sort occurred "in minimal scale". "There was an incident involving burning down the EU flag and some non-forbidden far-right symbols were displayed. A dozen or so irresponsible people couldn't ruin celebrations of this grand national holiday for hundreds of thousands of Poles," said Michał Dworczyk.
