Seven people got injured after a bus carrying Polish high school students drove into a ditch at the M3 highway in Hungary - the MTI agency informed. The injuries are only minor. All seven are very likely to leave the hospital today or on Tuesday.
The accident took place at the M3 highway between Kal and Fuezesabony, in the northeastern part of Hungary, nearby a popular tourist resort of Rekettyes. The bus which careened off the road right into a ditch had 32 people on board.
In the accident, 5 students and 2 adults got injured, including a caretaker and the tour guide. W wypadku poszkodowanych zostało pięciu uczniów i dwoje opiekunów, w tym pilot wycieczki. Pal Gyorfi, the spokesman for the Hungarian State Paramedic Service told MTI agency that five teenage girls aged between 17 and 18, as well as a 40-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man were taken to a hospital in Eger.
No serious injuries
"The participants of the Polish trip from Rymanów, whose bus had an accident on Monday in Hungary, sustained only minor injuries and will soon leave the hospital," said the Polish consul Marcin Sokołowski who set off to the place of the accident.
Referring to the seven injured people, Sokołowski stressed that they would be released from hospital still on Monday or on Tuesday at the latest. "There's no threat to their lives," he said and added that to his best knowledge, the injured suffered no fractures.
He also said that the rest of the group would be soon taken to Budapest in a replacement bus. "Most likely, the group will spend the night in Budapest, in their hotel," he added.
