Heavy rainfall that would not stop for many hours on Thursday caused a landslide at a football pitch in Poland's southern town of Wodzisław Śląski. The landslide was caught on camera.
On Thursday Poland was ravaged by severe storms which were accompanied by heavy rainfall. Fire service reported 625 intervention across the country relating to severe weather. The highest number of dispatches were in the following provinces: Śląskie - 384, Małopolskie - 93, Dolnośląskie - 68, and Opolskie - 27. The weather caused most trouble especially in the southern parts of Poland.
The heavy rainfall caused a landslide at a football pitch in Zawada district of the southern town of Wodzisław Śląski. This dangerous incident was caught on camera by a local resident. According to TVN24 reporter Jerzy Korczyński, the area surrounding the pitch has been secured. He added a football tournament was supposed to take place there, but it had to be postponed due to the damage caused by the weather.
"A wall of rain which ravaged Wodzisław county on Thursday evening was terrifying, the water was pouring down form hilly terrains such as this one" - the reporter said. "The element didn't spare this pitch and displayed its might and ruthlessness" - he added.
Luckily, no one got hurt in the incident.
