Thanks to the money collected to purchase the Bayraktar drone, which the producer ultimately donated free of charge, Ukraine will get 100 vehicles, including ambulances, "survival kits" for civilians, two mobile repair stations, and also the construction of a mobile training center will get additional funding, the organizer of the fundraiser Sławomir Sierakowski announced on Facebook.
Last summer's fundraising campaign launched by Polish journalist Sławomir Sierakowski to buy a Bayraktar TB2 drone for Ukraine ended in a spectacular success, as 22.5 million zlotys were collected within a month. Impressed by the fundraiser, the Turkish drone producer, Baykar, decided to donate the drone to the Ukrainians and not take a single dime. Sierakowski announced at the time that the funds would be spent on support for Ukraine. Five million zlotys has been already wired to pay for a mobile training center.
On Wednesday, March 15, Sierakowski annouced a list of further purchases made for the collected money. First one is 100 vehicles, including 25 ambulances for 7.9 million zlotys. Some of the vehicles, the journalist added, are to be used as mobile field kitchens in bombed cities and villages along the frontline.
Another purchase is 500 "survival kits" for families living in the most dangerous areas, without access to electricity and heating. The kits include, among other things, warm clothes, sleeping bags, first aid kits, flashlights, and manually-loaded radios for calling help. The price of the kits amounted to 4.7 million zlotys.
Approximately 2.6 million zlotys was spent to buy two mobile repair stations. "Those are two powerful trucks painted in khaki, each having two trailers, hydraulic ramps adapted to reparing damaged equipment, including howitzers and tanks," Sierakowski explained.
The surplus 2.34 million zlotys was transferred directly to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
