An unknown waltz by the iconic Polish composer Frédéric Chopin has been discovered at a museum in New York City. The piece was performed for TVN24 by Julita Przybylska-Nowak from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.
The New York Times reported on Sunday (October 27) that an unknown work by Frédéric Chopin was found at the Morgan Library and Museum in Manhattan.
According to the article, the discovery was made by the museum curator Robinson McClellan while he was searching through memorabilia from renowned artists, such as postcards signed by Pablo Picasso and letters from Johannes Brahms and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
McClellan, the NYT reported, was very suprised when he stumbled upon a card which read "Valse" with Chopin's hand-written name at the top.
The piece in A minor is a complete work, though shorter than other waltzes by the composer - it's about eighty seconds long.
Julita Przybylska-Nowak, Vice-Rector for Artistic and Scientific Affairs at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, performed the piece of Chopin's music for TVN24.
