All circumstances suggest that the first session of the Sejm in the new term will be held on November 13 or 14 - the chief of president Andrzej Duda's office, Paweł Szrot, told TVN24 on Friday (Oct. 20). The president will meet with party leaders next week in order to discuss forming of a new government.
Next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct. 24 and 25 respectively), president Andrzej Duda will hold consultations with leaders of the parties which have won seats in Sunday's parliamentary election.
The president will meet with each party separately, starting from those who have won the most support in the vote.
The Chancellery of the President on Friday informed about the details.
The president will meet with Law and Justice representatives on Tuesday at noon, and with Civic Coalition - at 2 p.m.
On Wednesday, Andrzej Duda will speak representatives of Third Way, New Left, and Confederation, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. respectively.
The presidential aide reminded that the current term of the parliament ends in November and that no procedures would "drawn out" beyond what the law stipulates.
Asked when the first session of the Sejm would take place, Szrot said that "this decision belongs to the president". "There is a designated time framework. It will be conducted the same way and tempo like all the previous changes of government were done," he added.
Asked if it would happen on November 13 or 14, he replied: "I don't like speculation. The president has the full leeway to act here, within the limits of the law, of course".
To the reporters remark that "the first Sejm session will take place either on Nov. 13 or 14", Szrot said: "All the circumstances we've mentioned suggest that".
