Five million zlotys is the cost of a life. The life of two-and-a-half-year-old Dawid from Opole. He has a rare and complicated heart and lung condition. He's already undergone many operations and yet still his life hangs by a thread. Because the cost of a potentially life-saving operation by American doctors is 5 million zlotys. For his family it's an abstract amount, but it's a sum that equals the toddler's chance at survival.
