Civic Platform's leader Grzegorz Schetyna met on Thursday in Brussels with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk. According to Schetyna's international affairs adviser Marcin Bosacki, the main topic of the meeting was "the future of Poland and Europe".

Schetyna posted a photo from the meeting on Twitter and Facebook.

His international affairs adviser, former Polish ambassador to Canada and former spokesperson for the foreign ministry, Marcin Bosacki said that the main topic of the meeting was "the future of Poland and Europe". "It was a very productive conversation," he underscored.

Tusk's "plan for years to come"

Schetyna spoke about Tusk's role in Polish politics and his relationship with the European Council's president in TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach", in February. He said that Tusk "is very well-oriented in Polish politics".

"I talk with him quite often and I know that, indeed, he has a very firm grasp on reality and he's working on a political plan for the moths and years to come, a plan for himself and the whole opposition," he added.

Asked if the plan assumes Schetyna's triumph in European and parliamentary elections and Tusk becoming Poland's president, Civic Platform's leader replied: "That would be the best possible scenario. The united opposition must first win the European elections, then the majority in both houses of parliament, to finally form a government. Under such circumstances, our candidate's road to presidency would be easy, however, we must take each stage at a time. First one is already on the 26th of May.

On that day, Poland will hold elections to the European Parliament.
