Former Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski said on Wednesday that, in his view, the former PM and current chief of the European Council Donald Tusk has already decided to return to Polish political scene.
Kwaśniewski was asked on Wednesday in TVN24 about chances for Donald Tusk's return to Polish politics. "I don't think he's probing, he has already decided to return to Polish political scene," said the former president. According to him, Tusk "leaves no doubt about it".
According to Kwaśniewski, Tusk "is setting a trap for himself with his activity, as it is raising social expectations". "It will be difficult for him to back out from this decision," said the former head of state.
He also added that "with such international experience, after last five years, when he was on the top of European politics," Tusk would be of great value for Polish scene.
Recently, Tusk took part, among other events, in the Freedom Games in Łódź, where he gave a lecture last Saturday, entitled "The 11th of November 2018. Poland and Europe. Two anniversaries, two lessons".
The next day, on Sunday, the former PM was in Warsaw where he attented the official celebrations on the Independence Day and laid wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the statue of Marshal Józef Piłsudski.
In early October, Tusk visited Kraków where he took part in a conference "The role of the Catholic Church in the European integration process".
Kwaśniewski replied that these elections "create a unique opportunity for building a joint pro-European block, that in the first place would include the Civic Platform, then the Democratic Left Alliance, as well as the Razem Party". He added that taking into account the struggle against Law and Justice (PiS) that, according him "doesn't like the European Union and is marginalising Poland," it certainly makes sense to form a joint front.
