The search for the missing boy continues. Dawid Żukowski was taken from home on Wednesday by his father who later that day committed suicide. An investigation into the man's death has been launched. Russian Embassy informed on Friday that the boy has Russian citizenship.
"We're not sparing efforts in order to find 5-year-old Dawid. Significant forces and resources have been involved in the search. We all hope for a positive ending," the interior minister Elżbieta Witek said on Friday.
"We've received very important assistance. I'm talking about specially-trained dogs. German police officers from Dresden came to help us and we're using their dogs to help us find little Dawid," Commissioner Sylwester Marczak from Warsaw Metropolitan Police said on Friday.
The Ministry of Defense informed on Friday that 190 Territorial Army officers and 30 firefighters with search and rescue dogs have joined the search operation.
Also on Friday, the spokesperson for the Russian Embassy Vladimir Aleksandrov confirmed that the Dawid Żukowski has Russian citizenship. He did not reply to the question if the boy's mother is also a Russian citizen, and if she was working in the embassy.
Maximum effort and resources have been involved in the search for the missing 5-year-old Dawid Żukowski. "Police officers are checking every place where they could receive any information. They are also with the boy's family," said Aspirant Katarzyna Zych from Grodzisk Mazowiecki police press office on Thursday.
The police is checking every clue that could lead to finding of the missing 5-year-old boy. Forensic team was searching the flat from which the boy was taken by his father on Wednesday.
Forensic team was also examining the car which the father was driving with his son. The experts are securing, among other things, olfactory traces and fingerprints.
Neighbours of the family said that they often saw the father with his son. They claim that he was very caring and close with the boy.
The police were notified of the boy's disappearance by a worried family member around midnight. The search began already at night; 5-year-old Dawid was picked up from home by his father around 5 pm on Wednesday. The man had parental rights; the case bore no characteristics of kidnapping. According to the police, the father took his own life around 9 pm.
The police were informed about the man's death at 8.52 pm. He was hit by a train. The child was not at the scene.
The grey skoda fabia driven by the father was found by the police. Inside the car there was a sun shade with Lightning Mcqueen, a red sportscar from the animated film "Cars".
The police appeals anyone who saw the car to come forward, as it's crucial to determine the route it had been going.
The boy was wearing a blue jumper, blue jeans and blue trainers with Lightning McQueen logo on them.
