Court: the case of the accident involving government limousine with former prime minister Beata Szydło and another car will be brought to court.
The case of Sebastian K. suspected of unintentionally causing an accident in winter of 2017 in which, among the injured was former prime minister Beata Szydło will be taken to court - decided the district court in Oświęcim. The judge has rejected the prosecution's motion to conditionally terminate the case.
Sebastian K. and his attorney were against the termination motion. After the court's decision, the suspect said if he had settled for a termination then "there would be no justice in all of it". He added: "I don't feel guilty at all. The court will decide whose fault was it".
The court has moved the case forward to the main hearing. The date has not been scheduled yet. The hearing will be held by the court in Oświęcim.
The prosecution proposed a conditional termination based on a one-year trial period and 1.500 zloty fine for Sebastian K.
The accident happened on 10 February 2017 in Oświęcim. According to the police, the motorcade with the then prime minister Beata Szydło (her limousine was in the middle of the column) was overtaking a fiat seicento. Its 21-year-old driver let the first car pass and then, while making a turn left, he hit the PM's limousine which next hit a tree.
On February 14, 2017, Sebastian K. was charged with unintentional causing a road accident. The 21-year-old pleaded not guilty.
As a result of the accident Beata Szydło and the chief of her security suffered injuries lasting longer than seven days. The then PM was hospitalized in Military Medical Institute in Warsaw until February 17, 2017.
