The KRS informed about Muszyński's resignation on Thursday morning, right before the beginning of the Council's session.
Muszyński had submitted his candidacy for the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court, but he didn't show up for the hearing on Tuesday.
On Thursday, the KRS received his written resignation. Apart from Muszyński, two other candidates withdrew their bids, solicitor Piotr Płachta and attorney Remigiusz Suehse, who had also applied for the Disciplinary Chamber.
From Monday to Wednesday, four teams of the National Council of the Judiciary interviewed the candidates for the Supreme Court.
The Chairman of the National Council of the Judiciary (KRS), Leszek Mazur has scheduled the Council's session for 23, 25, 27 and 28 of August - the KRS informed in a statement on Wednesday. Judiciary Council's teams completed on Wednesday the hearings of candidates for the Supreme Court.
The first part of the KRS session aimed at selecting the Supreme Court judges, that commenced on Thursday, is devoted to filling the seats in the Disciplinary Chamber and Criminal Chamber.
The session will consist of two parts. The first will be held on Thursday and Friday and judges for the Supreme Court's Disciplinary Chamber and Criminal Chamber will be selected. "The Disciplinary Chamber needs to be filled first because of an urgent need, while the Criminal Chamber deals with naturally similar problematic aspects, as well as the number of candidates for this chamber is quite low - it's only four, maybe five people," the KRS Chairman explained. In the beginning of the next week, on Monday and Tuesday, the National Council of the Judiciary will convene to fill the seats in the other two chambers: Extraordinary Supervision and Civic, said Leszek Mazur.
