A Ukrainian woman who has fled to Poland after Russia attacked her country fainted on her way to a hostel located in Warsaw's Bielany district. Local community officer rushed to provide her with first aid, and she was later taken to a hospital. The policeman learned that the woman had lost a close relative in the ongoing war.
Shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday, community officer Marek Golisz was near a gas station at Conrada Street, when a woman ran to him and asked for immediate help.
"A Warsaw resident was carrying two persons from the Polish-Ukrainian border to a hostel in Bielany district. Suddenly, one of the women lost consciousness," said junior inspector Elwira Kozłowska from Żoliborz police.
She added that the officer administered first aid and called an ambulance. The woman regained consciousness. Few minutes later, paramedics arrived, took care of the woman by taking her to a hospital. "The community officer knows Ukrainian language quite well and learned that the woman had lost a close relative in the war. Thanks to the policeman's quick reaction, a tragedy was avoided, and the woman received help on time," Kozłowska said.
