The board of LOT Polish Airlines has put forward a proposal of compromise to the employees on strike, the company informed Polish Press Agency (PAP) on Thursday. Shortly after, the leader of a trade union rejected the offer and said it failed to meet borderline conditions.
"Hoping for an agreement that would end the illegal protest that has been going on for 8 days now, the board has just presented to those on strike an offer of compromise. We do believe it will open a path to an agreement," reads the communique sent by LOT.
The first proposal assumes initiating a dialogue. "We declare engaging in a dialogue regarding issues raised by the protesters, once the illegal strike is put to an end," wrote LOT directors.
"Individuals who took part in the strike and were discharged on disciplinary grounds will be allowed to return to their jobs on new contracts," the second proposal reads. Here however, the board attached a condition: "this declaration does not concern individuals who during the strike, with the use of SMS or any other communication method, infringed on personal interests of other people, including fellow employees.
Third proposal is as follows: "the board declares that should the strike come to an end, its participants won't be charged to cover its financial or disciplinary costs".
Shortly after the compromise proposal has been submitted, the deputy chief of the Cabin and Flights Personnel Trade Union dismissed the offer as failing to meet borderline conditions.
