Ministers of Defence of the Bucharest Nine countries have jointly protested against attempts to restore the Russian Empire and reaffirmed unity when it comes to security of NATO eastern flank, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak said on Wednesday (April 26).
Defence ministers of the Bucharest Nine countries met in Warsaw on Wednesday to discuss preparations for the NATO summit in Vilnius and war in Ukraine, among other things. The meeting was hosted by Polish and Romanian defence ministers, Mariusz Błaszczak and Angel Tilvar.
"Our today's achievement is the adoption of a common stance, which demonstrates our unity and solidarity when it comes to counteracting attempts to restore the Russian Empire and strenghtening security on the eastern flank of the North-Atlantic Alliance," Błaszczak said at a press conference after the B9 meeting.
Britain's Defence Minister Ben Wallace was invited to address B9 leaders during Warsaw meeting.
Poland's defence minister also informed that the leader had discussed preparations for NATO summit in Vilnius, cooperation within the B9 group, new plans for creating a system of deterrence and protection of NATO eastern flank countries, joint military practice, building interoperability between armed forces of B9 states, as well as cooperation in supporting Ukraine.
"Our meeting was also an opportunity to talk of bilateral cooperation with Romania . Polish soldiers serve in Romania and Romanian soldiers serve in Poland . We work together to strengthen security on NATO's eastern flank," Poland's MOD said in a tweet.
