A man suspected of brutal attack using a machete on teenagers in a bus in Kraków may face eight years in prison. The indictment in this case, regarding eight adult participants of the incident, has been filed in court - Polish Press Agency learned from district court's press office.
Twenty one year old Adrian W. is accused of assault with the use of dangerous instrument - a machete. He is facing eight years in prison. Others: Rafał W., Marcin J., Dawid C., Paweł K., Norbert S. and Bartłomiej T. will face the court for assault - they may go to prison for three years. Jakub G. will stand in court as an accessory.
The accused want to willingly accept their punishment.
According to Joanna Specjał from district court's press office, the court has decided to extend the remand period for seven of the accused until December. Decision regarding the eighth is to be made on Wednesday.
Attack in a bus
The attack on the teenagers took place on Sunday, June 9, nearby Igołomska street. According to the police, four teenagers - one girl and three boys - were waiting at a bus stop close to Przylasek Rusiecki. One of them was wearing a t-shirt with the name of a football club, which attracted the attention of a group of girls. The girls started to insult the group; an altercation began and both groups entered the bus.
At the bus, the aggressive girls called their friends who showed up at one of the bus stops. The driver noticed a group of aggressive men wielding dangerous objects, such as a machete and an object resembling a gun. He stopped the bus but did not open the doors. One of the aggressive men stood in front of the bus to prevent it from driving away. The others forced the doors open.
Despite seeing other passengers, both the elderly and children, a 16-year-old used pepper spray inside the bus, a 45-year-old was beating the teenagers with fists, while his 21-year-old son struck 16-year-old Maciej M. several times with a machete.
The driver called the ambulance. Injured Maciej M. was taken to a hospital where doctors put stitches on his head. All the attackers have fled. The were identified with the help of CCTV footage. The evidence regarding six minors, who used gas and incited to crime, has been sent to a juvenile court.
