"We want Poland to be not just secure, but to prosper and to thrive, because of course it helps the people of Poland, but it also helps American investors as well. So, it’s a win-win scenario," U.S. Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski told TVN24 BiS on Tuesday (June 27). The ambassador added the climate for American investments in Poland was "super, super-positive".
"The climate for American investment in Poland now is super, super-positive and that’s not just me saying that. Look at the Intel announcement two weeks ago – 4-billion-dollar investment in semiconductors in Wrocław," the U.S. ambassador said.
"Four weeks ago, Visa made its announcement in terms of a tech center. I did a ribbon-cutting for Pepsi in a new chips factory, a different kind of chips, several weeks ago. Investment after investment after investment is coming to Poland. Why? Because Polish workers are very hard working and very loyal," he added.
Brzezinski stressed that "American companies have seen something special in Poland in the face of crisis in Ukraine, and that is the reactive mobilisation, the ability to improvise on the part of the Polish people".
He also commented on the question of potential concerns businesses may have due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. "No, there is no fear because Poland is safe and Poland is secure. My president - president Biden – has said time and time again that we will defend every square inch of NATO territory, including Poland. And we have thousands of American troops in Poland, standing shoulder to shoulder with Polish troops," he expained.
"We have thought through every contingency. Poland is safe and Poland is secure. And we are keeping our eyes on the horizon to the east."
"It's a win-win situation"
According to the U.S. ambassador, "there’s no question that investors coming to Poland are safe" "But they are also attracted to Poland. Why did the chief of the U.S. space program come to Poland earlier this month? Because there’s something incredibly innovative about the Polish tech sector, about the Polish scientific sector, that is worthy of engaging in," he explained.
"You increasingly hear that in America. I used to ambassador to Sweden, I’m increasingly hearing that from my Swedish investor friends. There’s something special about Poland today, not despite the fact that it’s on the border of a crisis, but how it has reacted to the crisis. It has introduced itself to the world in a special way," he added.
"The fact that you have a big American footprint here means that you have your friends, the Americans, literally standing alongside with you. So, in that sense, there is, quite frankly, a unity of purpose - that we want Poland to be not just secure, but to prosper and to thrive, because of course it helps the people of Poland, but it also helps American investors as well," Mark Brzezinski stressed.
"So, it’s a win-win scenario," he concluded.
