Gdańsk celebrates partially-free election of 4th June 1989

The city of Gdańsk celebrates the 32nd anniversary of Poland's partially-free election of June 4th, 1989, which sparked democratic transition and the fall of communism. For the third time a huge Polish flag, crafted by some 1,000 people was raised at the city's tallest mast, and a special picnic was organised next to the European Solidarity Centre.

EU bans Belarusian carriers from its airspace

Belarus carriers will be banned from flying over European Union territory or having access to its airports from Friday, the bloc said, as the country's exiled opposition leader called for more joint Western sanctions.

Restaurants and bars can invite guests inside again
