"Polish government, PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński, and prime minister Morawiecki, should state it clear and tell the Poles, Europe, and Orban - that the alliance is over with this politician, who is in fact building Putin's fifth column in Europe," chairman of Civic Platform Donald Tusk told TVN24 on Monday. He was commenting on what Morawiecki had said about Orban.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was asked on Monday if the time has come for the Polish government to cut ties with the Hungarian prime minister, especially after he said that Ukraine's President Zelenskiy was his opponent.

"Regardless of how one perceives Hungary, we must not forget it's the fourth consecutive win, and a win with by the highest constitutional majority, and so we must respect democratic elections. We shouldn't use Hungary to divert the attention of those who can't see clearly how the situation in Europe looks like," Morawiecki said.

He added that Orban wasn't blocking sanctions on Russia and blamed bigger European countries for putting their interest first.

Tusk: Orban is building Putin's fifth column in Europe

Civic Platform chairman and Poland's former prime minister Donald Tusk said in TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach" that, under such dramatic circumstances, Polish government and PM Morawiecki should refrain from "hypocrisy, lies and the unbearable ambiguity".

He added that he would expect Morawiecki to "finally explain why thousands of wagons from Belarus, from the east, are crossing Polish border every day".

Tusk added that although Poland was right to urge its partners to adopt a firm stance on Russia, it should set an example itself as "otherwise Morawiecki's calls won't be seen as credible at all".

He also stressed that Polish government and the ruling party, as well as Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki, "should state it clear and tell the Poles, Europe, and Orban - that the alliance is over with this politician, who is in fact building Putin's fifth column in Europe".
