Former military commanders, former presidents of states, analysts, experts, businessmen and diplomats came to Warsaw to attend the Global Forum, which begins on Thursday. Leading transatlantic strategists, businessmen and journalists will be pondering the future of transatlantic relations under the new American leadership.
As President Trump will begin his speech on Krasiński Square, the Global Forum will be inaugurated not far from the site. Strategists, politicians and representatives of the world of business – including representatives of SNI, the owner of TVN – will be listening and analyzing the speech delivered by the American President. In fact, he is the reason why both the Forum and the Three Seas summit have been moved to Warsaw.
“This year, the Global Forum is devoted to the topic of cooperation in the Three Seas region. It is the leading theme of this meeting,” said Krzysztof Szczerski, President Andrzej Duda's Chief of Staff.
Energy first
Global Forum participants will discuss not only the Three Seas initiative, not only the construction of cross-border transport, telecommunications and energy infrastructure, but also transatlantic political cooperation, security, and US-European economic cooperation. Particularly in the critical energy industry.
Europe and Poland have already done much to reduce their dependence on Russian energy. Poland already takes deliveries of gas from the United States. However, energy is but one element in the broadly understood security system, to be discussed at the Forum.
Military security and investment
Military security is expected to be one of the key topics of discussion. The presence of Rudy Guliani, adviser to President Trump, former and current U.S. commanders, presidents of Central and Eastern European countries, experts and analysts may be taken as evidence for this.
As participants of the Forum have stressed, the defense system is also to be based on a permanent U.S. military presence in this part of Europe.
A separate discussion panel will focus on the climate for American investment in Europe, especially in Poland. “Of course, anyone who wants to invest in good solutions in Poland is welcome. Americans in particular,” said Henryk Kowalczyk, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers.
“There is room for American companies interested in long-term business opportunities in Poland, rather than in speculative investment,” added Michał Kobosko, director of the Atlantic Council in Poland.
American companies are already present in Poland. They keep growing and want to invest, doing business on equal and, above all, stable terms.
