At a press conference on Wednesday, Deputy Sport Minister Łukasz Mejza commented on the latest revelations regarding his person. "In recent days, we have been dealing with the biggest political attack after '89," he said.
A story on the current Minister of Sport Łukasz Mejza was published by Wirtualna Polska journalists Szymon Jadczak and Mateusz Ratajczak. In the article they revealed that Mejza's company Vinci NeoClinic offered to treat people suffering from incurable diseases, however the method hailed by the minister has not been medically approved. Treatment prices started from 80,000 dollars.
Wirtualna Polska also published an article in which journalists recorded accounts of people who were being persuaded by Vinci NeoClinic to try the unapproved therapy. Mejza argued that WP's publication was "a bunch of blatant lies" and announced he would take matter to court.
Many politicians, not only from the opposition, call on the government to dismiss Mejza. Prime Minister Morawiecki said on Monday that "the situation will certainly be examined in great detail".
"As you all well know, in recent days we have been dealing with the biggest political attack after '89. An attack on the United Right, and on the governing majority. A relentless and unprecendented attack," Mejza said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
In his opinion, all boundaries have been crossed to overthrow the government. According to Mejza, innocent people suffering from diseases and their families are being used in political fighting through manipulating of facts.
"This attack has been launched against me, but it is meant to overthrow the ruling majority," the deputy minister said.
