The Health Ministry informed on Wednesday about 198 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus infection and 4 deaths. Since the start of the pandemic, Poland has reported 2,884,577 COVID-19 infections and the death of 75,289 people.
Most of Wednesday's 198 coronavirus cases were reported in the Masovian province - 25.
Last week on Wednesday, the ministry informed about 164 new cases. Today's report mentions 34 infections more than on August 4.
The Health Ministry added that four people died due to COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours. Three of them had co-occurring medical conditions.
Since the start of the pandemic, Poland has reported a total of 2,844,577 infections and 75,289 COVID-related deaths.
The ministry also informed that over 41,400 coronavirus tests were carried out in the last 24 hours.
Niedzielski: Delta variant in 86 percent of recent cases
Health Minister Adam Niedzielski on Monday posted a chart on Twitter, showing data from the previous 30 days which indicated that "mostly people from the least vaccinated groups get infected".
He added that 56 percent of all infections were people below 40, while people 60+, the most-vaccinated group, constituted less than 20 percent.
On Wednesday, Niedzielski said in a tweet: "Level of Delta variant infections in the last 4 weeks has already reached 86 percent. So far, in Poland we've confirmed 404 Delta variant cases. Alfa variant infections, which now make up less than 8 percent of all infections is becoming a thing of the past in Poland".
