United States Representative Marcy Kaptur said in an interview for TVN24 BiS that Poland was "teaching the world" how to help refugees from a war-torn country. "Ukraine is the home of the free and the home of the brave, and hopefully, the home of the free in perpetuity," she added. Kaptur also also underscored the importance of Ukraine winning "this battle for liberty".
"I came here to thank the people of Poland and the Polish government for their courage and determination in this fight of liberty against tyranny. I think Poland is distinguishing herself again before the entire world for what is occurring. And the way that Poland has received refugees from Ukraine, I’m sure for a temporary basis, but nonetheless I think you are teaching the world, Poland is teaching the world. And that’s one of the reasons I wanted to come here today to thank the government, to thank the people of Poland, and the greater region of central Europe, for Poland’s leadership as a country in helping us, helping liberty to win the fight against tyranny in the modern era," Marcy Kaptur said in an interview for TVN24 BiS.
Putin’s assault on liberty is having repercussions around the world. Technically, he’s already lost the moral argument. But in terms of supplies, in terms of being able to deliver, first - we as a title 5 NATO country, I mean we all have signed this agreement in NATO – first we want protect the members of NATO. And you can see it’s taken a while for adjoining nations in Europe and Europe as a whole, for the modern era to really understand what this attack is all about, and this war in Ukraine," she added.
The U.S. congresswoman praised the people of Ukraine for distinguishing themselves. "They are fighting for liberty as Poland fought for liberty for so long. And they will be victorious, because the free world is behind them, and the United States of America. President Joe Biden last evening announced another 750 million dollars in the forms of air cover, particularly helicopters and other devices that Ukraine can use in this consequential battle against a force much larger and much better funded, but nonetheless in which the people of Ukraine have the moral high ground and they have the spirit to fight," she stressed.
"President Zelenskiy, his wife, the people of Ukraine are teaching the world what the dividing line is between the fight for liberty and repression. And I’ll be honest with you, many of the American people, especially the younger generation, it’s the first time they’re seeing it. Liberty has real enemies, and in many places life has been rather easy. I think that this battle tells us that in fact every generation has to be prepared and we have to defeat this enemy," Kaptur said.
She added that Ukraine "is teaching the world lessons that Poland learned long ago". "I don’t think anyone expected this invasion until of course we saw the troops of course aligning on the Russian side of the border. But I think this will be the end of Russia as we know her. I think we’re going to move to a different era. The younger generation will have to pick up the reigns of liberty, but I think that Poland is playing a pivotal role in this, as are the Baltic countries. I think Romania, Slovakia, so many countries, even Moldova, countries that are bordering Ukraine right at the edge, that’s why the United States has to be a major player in NATO, making sure that the edge is protected, but also providing supplies so that Ukraine can win," the U.S. representative said.
"Ukraine is the home of the free and the home of the brave, and hopefully, the home of the free in perpetuity, so that for the first time in the world history Ukraine will have real freedom," Kaptur stressed.
"Our family heritage traces back to Poland as we know her today, but also to western Ukraine where our grandparents fled during the Tsarist era and the development of the Bolshevik Revolution. So we know a whole lot about this part of the world, and it’s so very very important that Ukraine win this consequential battle for liberty. And she’s on the road to that. The whole world is with her and she is teaching the world. And the world is contributing, the world had to reorganize itself in order to meet this new challenge, and that is occurring. And again, I want to thank Poland for the central role that it has played in making it possible for Ukraine to succeed to the level that they are as we meet this evening," the congresswoman said.
