Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki greeted leaders of European Union (EU) member states that joined the bloc in the last 15 years as they arrived for a summit in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Poland joined the EU on 1 May 2004, alongside Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Romania and Bulgaria joined in 2007, while Croatia, the newest member of the bloc, joined in 2013.
The body's Vice President Jyrki Katainen told journalists in Warsaw the prospect of British candidates getting into the European Parliament and then leaving after Brexit could create a "messy" situation in the run-up to the selection of European Commission. The European Union's leaders agreed in April to give Britain until the end of October to leave.
