Volunteers from Families Without Borders group from Poland's Tricity are preparing Christman gifts for children placed in a centre for foreigners near Grudziądz. Although gifts are still coming in, there's already plenty of boxes ready, filled with toys, books, wireless earphones, and many other things which may bring some joy and prove useful to the kids.
Volunteers from Rodziny Bez Granic Trójmiasto are preparing Christmas presents for children from a migrant centre in Grupa near Grudziądz (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship).
The plan is to fill around 70 boxes with gifts for both younger and older children. So far, the packages contain building blocks, books, pencil cases, plush toys, and wireless earphones. And loads of sweets.
The volunteers keep some of the presents at home. Michalina Rutka is one them.
"All those things are gifts of heart from the people. We operate fully as a grassroots movement through Rodziny Bez Granic Trójmiasto Facebook group, and all gifts have been bought by members of our community," she tells TVN24 reporter.
Rutka also says that on top of the gifts for kids, there are also many useful items for adults, such as hygiene products, underwear and shoes.
Collecting of gifts will be open until Friday (December 17), when the boxes are planned to be handed in. The volunteers underscore that the is already plenty of gifts, and they keep on coming in.
