A meeting called by President Andrzej Duda at the National Security Bureau (BBN) took place on Thursday (May 18) in Warsaw. BBN chief Jacek Siewiera gave a statement to the press after the meeting and said the talks pertained to the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius, as well as current affairs.
The Head of the National Security Bureau Jacek Siewiera informed on Wednesday that President Andrzej Duda had called the meeting to discuss preparations to NATO summit in Vilnius, scheduled for July 11-12.
The president invited, among others, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the North Atlantic Council Tomasz Szatkowski, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces Gen. Rajmund Andrzejczak, and Operational Commander of the Armed Forces Branches Lieutenant General Tomasz Piotrowski.
TVN24 reporter Paweł Łukasik was in front of the BBN headquarters and noticed the generals arrived together for the meeting.
Statement after BBN meeting
The meeting began after 12. After it came to an end, Siewiera gave a short statement to the press and said the participants discussed in detail all activities set out to be done ahead of the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius.
"These activities focus on issues related to regional planning, force generation, as well as command structure and adaptation of the Alliance's command structure to contemporary, present challenges," he explained.
Siewiera added that the meeting also focused on "acivity that will precede the standpoint Poland will present at the summit in Vilnius".
BBN chief also said some current affairs were discussed, including Poland's air defence and objects recently detected in Polish airspace.
