A police officer from Olsztyn was driving to work, when he saw a Skoda blocking the right lane. He approached the vehicle and saw that the driver was unconscious. The door was locked, so he broke the window, pulled the man outside and began resuscitation. The police have published a video of this incident.
It all happened on Friday around 6:30 a.m. Officer Andrzej Łowczyk from Olsztyn Police was driving to work, when he saw a car blocking the right lane on Sielska Street.
"The policeman, together with another witness, approached the vehicle to check the reason for this unusual behaviour by the driver. It turned out that behind the wheel there was an unconscious man. He was not reacting to knocking and calling, showing no signs of life," said officer Andrzej Jurkun from Olsztyn Police.
He broke the window and pulled the driver out
At first, officer Andrzej Łowczyk tried to get inside, but the doors were all locked.
"Fully realising that the life and health of the driver could have been in danger, he broke a car window and, with the help of another witness, pulled the 63-year-old out of the vehicle, and then he began resuscitation," Jurkun added.
Meanwhile, the other man called for an ambulance. The officer continued resuscitation attempts until the paramedics arrived and took the mission over from him.
In the end, the officer managed to return the 63-year-old's vital signs. The driver came around and was taken to a hospital.
