A 55-year-old man suffered electric shock while working at a construction site. The man's daughters later found out that an unknown man helped their father. They decided to find the stranger. They published a post in social media and they made it. They found the man, named Norbert, and thanked him for saving their father's life.
The accident took place on Monday at Szafera street in Szczecin. A 55-year-old man suffered electric shock during work at a construction site. A man driving nearby rushed to help him. He stopped his car and immediately began resuscitation and called an ambulance.
Daughter: thanks to him my father is alive
"We received the call shortly after 11. We dispatched a specialised team consisting of a doctor and two paramedics. Upon their arrival, the man was unconscious, had no pulse and wasn't breathing. The team proceeded to resuscitate him and managed to return his heart function, he was secured and taken to a hospital," said Paulina Heigel from an ambulance station in Szczecin.
A daughter of the 55-year-old man found out about the man who had helped her father. Together with the rest of family members, they decided to seek the man out by publishing a post in social media.
"Thanks to him my father is alive. I would really like to thank him for saving his life and calling an ambulance, despite heavy rain. Dad is in hospital hooked to a ventilator, but thanks to a swift reaction he's still alive, even though the resuscitation took 20 minutes," the woman wrote. And it worked out.
Family thanks for saving the 55-year-old
The man who helped the 55-year-old is named Norbert, a member of the Szczecin Rifle Association. "Our friend Norbert was at the scene and using knowledge of first aid he helped a man by immediately proceeding to resuscitation," members of the Szczecin Rifle Association wrote in social media.
Paulina Heigel, in turn, says that although it were the paramedics who restored the heart function, any help of this kind deserves praise. Thanks to Norbert, the ambulance arrived at the scene quickly.
The injured man is still at hospital in a medically-induced coma.
