A 65-year-old man found an envelope containing money near a bike lane in Słupsk. He took it to a local police station. More than a week later, the owner of the envelope has been found. More precisely, the owner's mother came to the station and proved the envelope belonged to her 13-year-old son Mateusz.
The envelope was found by a 65-year-old resident of Słupsk. It contained 300 zlotys and an inscription on the back: "Mateusz on the occasion of Easter holidays 2021, 300 zlotys - 28.03.2021 dad". At first the man tried to find the owner on his own. Two weeks later he turned to a police station in Słupsk.
Police officers decided to publish a photo of the Easter gift and ask for help in locating Mateusz. The plan has worked perfectly.
"On April 30 Mateusz's mother came to the station, presented her ID proving the envelope belonged to her 13-year-old son, and step by step explained how it had been lost" - said Monika Sadurska from Słupsk Police.
It turned out that woman's friends noticed the police were looking for the envelope's owner and told her about it. The police also contacted the boy's father who confirmed sending the gift.
"The man was very grateful to the finder. We would again like to thank for this man's honesty. The story ends with Mateusz getting his money back, and we are happy to have helped" - the police spokesperson added.
