"Wounded Ukrainian soldiers are treated in Polish hospitals," Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference on Friday. He added that Polish hospitals were admitting persons of Polish origin, but most of them were Ukrainian citizens who had been wounded "at one of the front lines". Morawiecki also assured that, in case fighting in Ukraine intensified, Poland was ready to organise transport for Polish nationals who would like to move from western Ukraine to their homeland.
At a press conference in Wrocław on Friday, Mateusz Morawiecki was asked, among other things, about a possibility to evacuate Polish people living in Ukraine to Poland, in case the fighting intensified. He replied that "plenty of conveniences and possibilities of normal functioning in Poland" have already been prepared for Polish nationals.
"They are also a part of this huge wave of refugees who ended up here, more than 2.5 million people," he added.
Morawiecki also assured that the authorities were in constant contact with Poles in need of help, through Polish consulates and directly through government agencies. "We are ready, in case of intensification of fighting in Ukraine, to organise separate transport for all those who will want to quickly move from western Ukraine to the Republic (of Poland)," he declared.
"We are already treating wounded soldiers today," the prime minister added.
"Here of course we have people of Polish origin, but most of them are Ukrainian citizens, who got wounded at one of the front lines. (...) As of today we are treating wounded Ukrainian soldiers in Polish hospitals," Morawiecki said.
