The president has until August 14 to announce the date of this year's parliamentary election. The TVN24 reporter Agata Adamek said on Tuesday morning that, according to her unofficial sources, the president has asked the National Electoral Commission for an opinion regarding October 15 as the election date. This is how the procedure looks like before the head of state can announce the official date.
Our reporter tried to confirmed this information at the Presidential Palace. The head of the president's office Paweł Szrot refused to comment on the issue. "Please wait just a little longer," Agata Adamek was told.
The PKW chairman Sylwester Marciniak told the Polish Press Agency the PKW has sent its opinion regarding the election date to the Chancellery of the President.
Marciniak did not reveal exactly what date the president has proposed because - as he explained - the announcement of election dates is an exclusive competence of the head of state.

Once the president's decision to hold the election has been published in the Journal of Laws - no longer than five days after the decision - the campaign will officially commence.
Parliamentary election in Poland is held every four years - the last one took place on October 13, 2019. The voters will elect 460 members of the lower house of parliament - the Sejm, and 100 members of the upper house - the Senate. The responsibility for the organization and the course of the election lies on the National Electoral Commission (PKW).
