More and more Poles are affected by the price spike. As many as 74% of respondents declare they have recently limited their spending due to high prices, according to the latest Kantar poll for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24. Only 25% of those asked said they haven't limited their spending in recent months. Furthermore, 75% expressed negative opinion regarding government action aimed at tackling the prices spike.
The recent spike in prices has forced many Poles to largely cut on their spending, especially when inflation is still very high. In July, consumer prices increased by 15.6% year on year.
Not only prices of basic food products have gone up, but of nearly all goods and services. This forced many Poles to change their habits and constantly make decisions on what to buy and when.
In a telephone survey carried out on August 17-18 by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24, the respondents were asked if they had to cut on their spending due to the recent price spike.
As many 74% said they had to limit spending due to high prices, of which 45% answered "definitely yes" and 29% - "probably yes".
Only 25% of those asked said they did not have limit their spending, of 7% picked the answer "definitely not" and 18% "probably not".
1% chose the answer "hard to say".
Assessment of government action
The second question asked in the survey was: "How do you assess government action aimed at tackling the price spike?".
51% said "definitely badly" and 24% - "probably badly". In total, 75% of those asked shared a negative opinion regarding government's efforts in fight against high prices.
The answer "definitely well" was picked by 7% of respondents, while "probably well" - by 14%. In total, 21% of those asked expressed a positive opinion about government fight against the price spike.
4% declared it was "hard to say".
The telephone poll by Kantar Public was carried out on August 17-18, 2022, on a nationwide, representative sample of 1,003 adult residents of Poland.
