Consumer prices in Poland in July 2023, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, increased by 10.8% (price index 110.8), and as related to the previous month decreased by 0.2% (price index 99.8) - according to the flash estimate released on Monday (July 31) by Poland's Central Statistical Office (Statistics Poland).
Poland's inflation in July 2023 was 10.8% year on year, Statistics Poland announced in Monday's flash estimate.
Compared to the previous month, consumer prices decreased by 0.2%. If the estimate is confirmed in the final data release, this will have been first such situation since February 2022, when inflation decreased by 0.3% month to month.
In June 2023, inflation in year on year terms stood at 11.5%.
According to market consensus, which is the median derived from experts' forecasts, inflation in July was at 10.9%.
According to the flash estimate, prices of food products and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 15.6% y/y, electricity, gas and other fuels - by 16.7%, while fuels for personal transport equipment - by 15.5%.
In a month to month comparison, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 0.2%. Prices of electricity, gas and other fuels did not change, whereas prices of fuels for personal transport increased by 0.4% compared to June 2023.
The final data on July's inflation are to be released on August 14.
