Poland's coach Paulo Sousa said at a press briefing on Tuesday that midfielder Piotr Zieliński and defender Bartosz Bereszyński would miss Wednesday's World Cup qualifying game against England in Warsaw. The match is set to begin at 20:45 CEST.
Napoli playmaker Piotr Zieliński, ending his recovery, has joined Poland's national team for September qualifiers, but is practicing individually. Poland's coach Paulo Sousa announced his decision regarding the player at a press briefing on Tuesday.
"Piotr will not play against England. He's not ready for this game," Sousa revealed.
He added that also Sampdoria defender Bartosz Bereszyński would not play on Wednesday (he had been substituted in the first half of the Poland's match against Albania in Warsaw).
"He still doesn't feel well enough," the Portuguese said.
Problem with conceding goals
Zapytany o gole tracone przez biało-czerwonych w każdym ostatnim meczu, Portugalczyk zaznaczył, że to jest część futbolu. I przypomniał, że biało-czerwoni zdobywają dużo bramek.
Asked about Poland losing goals in every recent game, Sousa said it was part of football and reminded that his team scored a lot of goals.
"In order to win a game, we must score more goals that the opponent. This is our task," the coach stressed.
In their two last games, the White and Reds defeated Albania 4:1 at home, and San Marino 7:1 away.
After 5 games played, Poland is 2nd in Group I with 10 points. England lead the group with 15 points.
