Warsaw City Hall sets up information points for Ukrainian refugees that will operate at railway stations and at the Palace of Culture in Science in the centre of the city. Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski also informed that a special hotline has been also launched.
"The Warsaw Multicultural Center - that's where the Capital City of Warsaw coordinates support for refugees from Ukraine. We're setting up information points - they will be located at railway stations and at the Palace of Culture and Science. A special hotline has also been launched. We're also in contact with government institutions, we're cooperating with NGOs" - Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski said in a tweet on Friday.
The Warsaw Multicultural Center said at its website that its "mission is to help prevent the social marginalization of migrants, as well as to counteract the significant threats facing the modern European metropolis, resulting from ignorance and stereotypes of the majority and minorities (ignorance of cultures, beliefs, customs and laws)".
"We want to make Warsaw the most culturally and nationally diverse city in Poland, the cradle of supporting intercultural dialogue, strengthen good neighborly relations, promote diversity, and prevent discrimination and hate speech," the organisation added.
The Warsaw Multicultural Center is located in Praga-Północ district at 54 Jagiellońska Street.
The special hotline for refugees seeking shelter in Poland can be reached at 22 648 11 11 or 604 932 969.
"We're trying to gather as much information as possible, in order to be able to answer concrete questions," Trzaskowski said.
The mayor added that the city hall has been cooperating with the Ukrainian House in Warsaw and NGOs which organise help for Ukrainian people.
"At the moment we're trying to find solutions to the most fundamental issues. We will be directing questions to the government," Trzaskowski said, adding that the said questions would pertain to issues such as transport for refugees, and the possibility of sending blood to Ukraine.
