Four parachuters got blown away by the wind and fell into the Baltic Sea near Kołobrzeg (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). Two women were pronounced dead after an unsuccesful resuscitation attempts.
The accident took place after 8 pm on Monday, nearby Podczele neighbourhood in Kołobrzeg. Four fire brigade units, police, paramedics and rescuers were working at the scene.
Tomasz Kubiak, spokesperson for the Voivodeship Fire Service, told TVN24 that four parachuters who had been flying above Kołobrzeg were blown away by the wind straight into the sea.
"Two men managed to get out of the water safely. Two women were located and only then taken out. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the women for nearly 1 hour, but unfortunately it was too late," a fire fighter present at the scene explained.
Kubiak stressed that he had no details regarding the circumstances of the accident.
