"We've surpassed a threshold of 500 daily infections. If this dynamic continues, we will reach a threshold of 1,000 daily infections in two weeks, rather than by the end of the month," Health Minister Adam Niedzielski said on Wednesday.
The Health Ministry informed on Wednesday about 533 new coronavirus infections and 11 COVID-related deaths. Compared to last Wednesday, the number of infection cases has increased by 167 cases. Two weeks ago, on August 25, the ministry informed about 234 new cases.

"We've surpassed a threshold of 500 daily infections. If this dynamic continues, we will reach a threshold of 1,000 daily infections in two weeks, rather than by the end of the month," Niedzielski said.
He also stressed that no surge in new hospital admissions was reported. "This will now be our main point of focus," the minister said.
The ministry also said on Wednesday that 588 COVID patients were being hospitalised, of which 66 were hooked to ventilators. Last week, there were 475 patients in hospitals due to COVID, whereas two weeks ago, on August 25 - 374.
Since the start of the pandemic, Poland has confirmed 2,891,602 coronavirus infections and 75,403 COVID-related deaths.
