The Ministry of Health informed on Friday about 26,735 newly confirmed COVID infection cases and 421 COVID-related deaths. Furthermore, the number of active infection cases has jumped up to nearly 423,000, which is the highest number in the last 12 months.
The Ministry of Health informed that the average number of new infections in the last 7 days has surpassed 22,500 and is the highest since April 6.
This means that the current, fourth, wave of the pandemic in Poland has reached a level of 88 percent of infections recorded in the peak of the second, and 78 percent of the third wave.
The average daily infections rate in the peak of the second wave reached 25,600 cases, which was recorded on November 11, 2020, whereas the peak of the third wave, nearly 28,900 cases, was recorded on April 1, 2021.
The number of active infection cases has gone up to nearly 423,000 - the highest since November 27, 2020.
The ministry also informed about 421 COVID patients, of which 292 had co-occurring diseases.

Since the start of the pandemic, Poland has reported 3,461,066 infections and 82,607 COVID-related deaths.
