A very interesting meteorological phenomenon could be seen in Warsaw on Thursday afternoon. The sky filled with characteristic, protruding clouds. The mammatus clouds are also referred to as "cow teats".
Tomasz Zieliński, tvnwarszawa.pl reporter, spotted the phenomenon and took photos that show the sky above the Mokotów district in Warsaw filled with very rare clouds.
"What we saw in the sky in Warsaw on Thursday is called the mamma phenomenon. Those protrusions resembling cow teats form underneath the base of storm clouds like cumulonimbus or stratocumulus" - Martyna Płecha from tvnmeteo.pl portal explains.
"The mammatus pattern usually forms during heavy storms. It's a short-lasting, but very impressive occurrence" - she added.
The mamma phenomenon was seen also in other districts, as well as outside Warsaw.
