Majority of Poles think Donald Tusk should not stand at the helm of Civic Platform again - according to a poll conducted by Kantar for "Fakty" TVN and TVN24. 60 percent of respondents said Tusk should not return to Polish politics, nor should he become Civic Platform leader. Opposite view was expressed by 26 percent. The members of the party, co-founded by the former prime minister Donald Tusk, are not sure whether he should become its leader, but they agree his return to politics as such would be welcome. Especially younger members of the party would rather see Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski as chief. Decision regarding Tusk's return to Polish politics, and in what role, is likely to be made on July 3.
In a phone survey carried out by Kantar on June 24-25, respondents were asked if, in their opinion, Donald Tusk should return to Polish politics and become Civic Platform leader.
32 percent of those asked said "definitely no", whereas 28 percent said "rather not". In total, 60 percent of respondents said Donald Tusk should not return as Civic Platform leader.
"Definitely yes" answer was chosen by 9 percent, while "rather yes" - by 17 percent. In total, 26 percent said Donald Tusk should become Civic Platform leader.
The answer "don't know/hard to say" was picked by 14 percent of those asked.
Everything should be settled on July 3 during a Civic Platform National Council, when Donald Tusk is expected to give a speech and provide a spark for the support-waning party.
The phone survey was conducted by Kantar on June 24-25, 2021, on a nationwide, representative sample of 1001 adult persons.
