Belsat TV informs, based on viewers reports, that a burial ground of Polish, soldiers located in Kachichi village, Grodno Region, has been vandalised. This is yet another such case in recent days. A few days ago, another cemetery of Polish soldiers was demolished in the same region in Mikulishki. "Poland strongly condemns acts of vandalism targeting resting places," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Twitter on Friday.
Belsat TV has published photographs of vandalised burial place of Polish soldiers, located in Kachichi, Grodno Region. The images have been published on Telegram messaging platform. Belsat also informed that 89 people died in that area in January of 1945 in a battle between the Home Army and the NKVD. "They were buried right there near Kachichi," Belsat said.
According to Belsat TV, the resting place was vandalised in October, 2021.
Another act of vandalism
A cemetery of Polish soldiers fallen in 1944, located in Mikulishki, Grodno Region, has been recently demolished by order of Belarusian authorities. Not even one out of 22 crosses which stood at the memorial site has been spared.
"This particularly disgraceful event is an example of how the current authorities of Belarus are violating all the commitments the country has made about the memorial sites in its territory," Poland's MFA said in a statement condemning the decision.
Belarusian authorities replied on Friday by saying there were no "registered burial places" in that location.
MFA reaction
"Poland strongly condemns acts of vandalism targeting resting places," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Twitter on Friday. "While those of over 1.2 million Red Army soldiers are under permanent protection in , Belarus sadly fails to hold up to the same standards. Instead, we witness another blatant lie to cover up the truth," the tweet reads.
The MFA also attached images - marking them as disinformation - that had been published by Belarusian state institutions on social media, in which they claim that "there are no war cemeteries nor graves of foreign soldiers" in Mikulishki area.
