Polish Football Association's (PZPN) License Committee has suspended Wisła Kraków from further participation in Polish top division, informed the PZPN on its official website.
"The PZPN license committee decided to suspend Wisła Kraków's license due to unclear legal situation of the club and numerous violations of the License Rule Book," reads the statement.
The FA also added that it was concerned with "only mixed and distressing information coming from the club".
"The committe have decided to suspend the club due to lack of contact from the former and the new owners of Wisła. Frankly speaking, all the information we get regarding the club have come from the media, we haven't heard directly from the club. We don't know who is currently in charge of Wisła. We don't know who is the license holder. This is a violation of the License Rule Book, hence our strict reaction," said the chairman of licence committee Krzystof A. Rozen.
Wisła Kraków, one of the oldest professional soccer teams in Poland, was to be sold to a Cambodian-backed syndicate of investors, the city's president said before Christmas.
A conditional agreement with a Luxembourg-British syndicate of investment funds has been signed on but the parties have failed to finalise the deal.
Wisła Kraków, who last won the Polish championship in 2011, have been experiencing financial problems in recent months.
