After a short walk along the Royal Route, Prince William and Princess Kate visited a sight of great importance to the city – the Warsaw Rising Museum. At the Museum, the royal couple met former insurgents and paid homage to the fallen in front of the memorial wall.
The cavalcade reached the Museum at about 15:48. The first to emerge from the cars were Andrzej Duda and Agata Kornhauser-Duda. They were met by the Museum director, Jan Ołdakowski.
A short while later, the royal couple appeared in the courtyard and was also welcomed by director Ołdakowski and his deputies. The City Council was represented by Vice President of the capital, Renata Kaznowska.
Several dozen people gathered in front of the Museum to greet William and Kate, as well as the President and First Lady.
Meeting with former insurgents
The two couples met Polish and British World War II veterans, Warsaw Rising insurgents and those who supported the struggle.
The royal couple, the President and First Lady also paid homage to the Warsaw insurgents by lighting candles under the Monter Bell.
Around 16:30, the royal couple went to the memorial wall, in which thousands of names of insurgents are engraved. Then they left the Museum.
