Civic Coalition would win most of the seats in the parliament, according to the latest poll carried out by Kantar Public. In the survey,the liberal opposition coalition was picked by 31% of the respondents, whereas the ruling camp led by Law and Justice - 28%. Commenting on the motion filed by the opposition, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said he was in favour of lauching a committee or other mechanisms "to verify the ways that Russian influence was affecting the area of security and energy system".

A ruling PiS party lawmaker Przemysław Czarnecki has been suspended as party member. The MP spent the night and half of Friday at the sobering-up station at Kolska Street in Warsaw. The decision to suspend Czarnecki was made by party chairman Jarosław Kaczyński.

The European Council stated in the conclusions that Russia is responsible for all aspects of the economic crisis we are dealing with - Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Friday (October 21) after the Council summit in Brussels. "We demand the European Commission analyse options to draw realistic consequences from Russia - not only in the form of sanctions," he added.

The Ministry of National Defence on Thursday (October 20) signed a leasing agreement on the MQ-9A Reaper unmanned reconnaissance drone system for the Polish Armed Forces. "We will be using it until we have acquired our own unmanned reconnaissance system," said the chief of the ministry Mariusz Błaszczak.

"The government is stealing our entitlements" - say the participants of a protest staged in central Warsaw by trade unions. Inflation in Poland in September this year was at 15.7% year on year, according to a report released by Eurostat. This is one of the highest spikes in consumer prices in the European Union. The highest inflation in the bloc last month was recorded in Estonia and Lithuania, and the lowest in France and Malta.

Animator, visual artist, director and screenwriter - Józef Ćwietnia - passed away at the age of 85. He was a co-creator of Poland's legendary cartoon characters: piebald terrier Reksio, and brothers Bolek and Lolek. The Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Biała - for which the artist had worked for many years - informed about his death on social media. "Our heart's been broken today," the studio wrote.

The Voivodeship Administrative Court in Białystok passed a ruling in September in the case of Iraqi migrants, who had been pushed back the Belarusian border by Polish Border Guard officers. The court said at the time the pushback had been a violation of the law. Now, Poland's Commissioner for Human Rights (RPO) has published the justification of the ruling, according to which the Border Guard could not have override the international and EU laws with a national ordinance.

Poland is not afraid of losing European Union (EU) funds, the Polish Prime Minister said on Tuesday, a day after the European Commission warned it could forfeit most development money unless the court system is fixed.

"Our Bayraktar for Ukraine has been manufactured. It's wrapped and ready for delivery," Polish activist and journalist Sławomir Sierakowski wrote in a Facebook post on Monday (October 17). Sierakowski is the initiator of a crowdfunding campaign to purchase a Bayraktar drone for the Ukrainian Army. He also said the drone would be named "Marik". The National Bank of Poland (NBP) announced on Monday (October 17) that - in September 2022 - inflation net of food and energy prices amounted to 10.7% year on year. To compare, in August this year, the core inflation was at 9.9%. The NBP added the period under analysis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) had stood at 17.2% year on year.

The European Union will not pay Poland the vast majority of 75 billion euros worth of development funds earmarked for it through 2027 unless it fixes its courts, a spokesman for the bloc's executive said on Monday.

Poland's foreign ministry has summoned Israel's ambassador for Monday, a Polish deputy minister said on Friday, after the diplomat criticised the government for not allowing student trips from Israel to visit Holocaust memorial sites in Poland.

Local governments, smaller businesses, and public use entities - such as schools, hospitals or churches - will pay a maximum of 785 zlotys per megawatt hour (MWh) - Poland's Climate and Environment Minister Anna Moskwa said at a press briefing on Friday (October 14). Earlier that day, the government adopted a draft bill on the issue. Furthermore, the project assumes maximum electricity prices for households which exceed the 2,000 kWh limit at 693 zlotys per MWh. Deputy PM Jacek Sasin said on Twitter the government also agreed on a bill on distribution of coal by local governments.

Inflation in Poland in September this year was at 17.2% year on year, according to Poland's Central Statistical Office (Statistics Poland). The increase in consumer prices has passed the threshold of 17% for the first time since February, 1997.
