Mark Brzezinski: American companies have seen something special in Poland

Bird virus is killing cats in Poland. General Veterinary Inspectorate releases test results

A mysterious disease is attacking cats across Poland. Poland's General Veterinary Inspectorate (GIW) confirmed on Monday (June 26) that 9 out of 11 samples taken from animals tested positive for H5N1 bird flu. "The positive samples come from Poznań, Tricity, and Lublin," the GIW said. As of yet, the scientists have not been able to determine the source of infections. Experts advise cat owners follow all safety measures and not let their pets outside. They also urge owners not to allow their cats to have any contact with wild birds, to thoroughly disinfect their hands and shoes after coming home, and feed their animals with food from known sources.

Little black stork chick snatched out of the nest by a hawk

A black stork chick was snatched out of the nest in Poland's Notecka Forest. The little birds were on their own in the nest when a hawk attacked them. The predator launched a series of approaches before it finally succeeded and snatched one of the chicks. The whole situation was caught on camera which monitors the life of the stork family.

Anastazja's family attorney: the suspect has been charged with murder

The 32-year-old Bangladeshi man suspected of abducting and raping the 27-year-old Polish woman named Anastazja, on the Greek island of Kos, has now been additionally charged with her murder, the woman's family attorney Jarosław Kowalewski told tvn24.pl on Wednesday (June 21). The lawyer added he had received this information from the family's second plenipotentiary who was in Greece. The suspect has been temporarily arrested.

Runaway parents from Warsaw found by the police in Prague

The missing married couple from Warsaw's Mokotów district - who had abandoned their two teenage sons - have been found by the police in Prague. A spokesperson for Warsaw Police said the case files would be soon referred to the prosecutor's office and court. The couple haven't been detained as the police were investigating their disappearance, not any kind of crime. Once the relevant documentation has been analysed, further decisions regarding the couple will be taken.

Poland's ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party is opposing the currently negotiated EU migration deal. PiS politicians claim the agreement will include a "mandatory relocation" mechanism. Party chairman Jarosław Kaczyński said the Polish people should decide whether or not to adopt the migration deal in a referendum. Meanwhile, the legislative proposal, as it still being ironed out, does not force member states to accept a set number of migrants. There are a few options, including a leeway for countries such as Poland which may allow a given member state not to participate in the solidarity mechanism at all, TVN24 correspondent in Brussels Maciej Sokołowski explained.

The average monthly gross wage and salary in the national economy in Poland in 2022 was 6,346.15 zlotys, Poland's Central Statistical Office (Statistics Poland) said on Monday (June 19). The man is a Bangladeshi national. His attorney said on Monday his client was not informed at the time that the woman's body had been found, adding the Bangladeshi was charged with abduction. The Ethnos portal, quoting a police source, said the woman had been strangled.

Climate minister: majority of EU states support extension for coal subsidies after 2025
