"From the White House standpoint, this visit will surely be a success," said Michał Baranowski from the German Marshall Fund of the United States in "Wstajesz i wiesz", TVN24’s morning program, commenting on U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to Poland.
"The U.S. President’s July trip to Europe will be his second bilateral visit," stressed Baranowski. In his opinion, Trump "is coming to improve his image from the first one, when he visited Brussels and Italy" at the end of May. "That visit didn’t go too well. The White House wants to show that there is a better dimension of its relationship with Europe," the expert assessed.
A visit that will "surely be a success"
Baranowski believes that the U.S. administration chose Warsaw because "Poland is an important country in Europe and on the eastern flank. From the White House standpoint, this visit will surely be a success," assessed the Warsaw GMF branch expert. In his opinion, in Warsaw Trump can count on a “positive reception from both the government and the broader public. It’ll definitely be more difficult in Germany,” concluded Baranowski, alluding to the U.S. President’s later participation in the G20 summit in Hamburg.
