One of the key moments in the U.S. President's speech in Warsaw came when he said that Poland could not be held hostage by any country, which used energy as leverage, said Fred Kempe. Director of the Atlantic Council think-tank was interviewed by Jacek Stawiski for TVN24 BiS during the Global Forum meeting.
According to Fred Kempe, three aspects of Donald Trump's speech deserve particular attention.
The first is that just one day before his meeting with Vladimir Putin, the American President spoke about Article 5, the collective defense, and the U.S. commitment to it.
Secondly, he added, Trump said that Poland should not be held hostage by any country that may use energy supplies to gain advantage in the region.
The third important aspect of the U.S. President's visit was the fact that he “spoke about the Three Seas initiative and expressed his support for it.”
The director of the Atlantic Council was also impressed by the way the U.S. President spoke about Polish history. In his view, President Trump's visit to Poland was a good introduction to the G20 summit in Hamburg.
