Ambassador Mosbacher: when it comes to LGBT, Poland is on the wrong side of history

I have the utmost respect for the religious tradition of the country I'm an ambassador to, but human rights are human rights, they're universal - U.S. Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher said in an interview for Wirtualna Polska portal. She added that using anti-LGBT rhetoric only alienates Poland, which translates into particular business decisions.

Scholars urge EU Commission chief to take firm action regarding rule of law in Poland

Dozens of scholars from esteemed international universities have called on the EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen to act "promptly and meaningfully" in regard to the Polish justice system. "Polish authorities continue to openly abuse, harass and intimidate judges and prosecutors who are seeking to defend the rule of law" - wrote the authors an open letter, seen by TVN24.

Sasin: Kaczyński very likely to join cabinet as deputy PM

As Law and Justice (PiS), we've accepted the composition of the new cabinet, also in terms of staff. The coalition leadership is to finally green-light it on Tuesday - deputy PM Jacek Sasin told TVN24. He added that it was very likely that PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński would join the government as one of four deputy prime ministers.

"Respect for these fundamental rights, which are also enshrined in OSCE commitments and the obligations and standards of the Council of Europe and the European Union as communities of rights and values, obliges governments to protect all citizens from violence and discrimination and to ensure they enjoy equal opportunities" - reads an open letter signed by 50 ambassadors and members of international organisations operating in Poland. Among the signatories was the U.S. Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher. Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński commented on the letter via Twitter.

Ruling party to discuss cabinet reshuffle after signing coalition deal

The leadership of the Law and Justice party is to meet on Monday afternoon to discuss details of the cabinet reshuffle. According to Polish Press Agency (PAP), at Monday's meeting the final composition of the government is to be established. On Saturday, the leaders of PiS, United Poland and Accord signed a new coalition agreement after weeks of infighting.

She added that "the ball is in United Poland's court". Shortly after 7pm, the leaders of PiS and United Poland, Jarosław Kaczyński and Zbigniew Ziobro, met to discuss ruling coalition's future. Their meeting lasted for over an hour.

Chairman of the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) Jarosław Kaczyński met on Monday evening with junior coalition partner chief - justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro. The PiS party spokesperson Anita Czerwińska said Kaczyński had set out conditions for the ruling coalition's future existence. "We're waiting for a reply" - she added.

Poland's ruling right-wing coalition should remain united, the leader of a junior partner in the alliance said on Monday, attempting to smooth tensions that threaten to wreck the government and trigger a snap election. The ruling party held an emergency meeting on Monday devoted to the crisis in the coalition. PiS spokesperson Anita Czerwińska said after the talks had ended that the party would inform about the outcome "in an appropriate time".

President Duda's daughter appointed as his social advisor

Kinga Duda has been appointed as social advisor to the President of Poland - according to the President's Chancellery official website. Her father, president Andrzej Duda, has reassured on Twitter that his daughter has not been receiving any remuneration for this job.
