Rule of Law Report 2023. EU Commission has "serious concerns" regarding Poland

In this year's Rule of Law Report, the European Commission analysed four pillars: national justice systems, anti-corruption frameworks, media pluralism and other institutional checks and balances. According to the EU executive, "serious concerns persist related to the independence of the Polish judiciary" and that "there are claims of political influence over the media". The report on Poland also mentions concerns over the so-called "Lex Tusk".

A Filipino woman assaulted in Wrocław. Aggressor faces up to 3 years in prison

A Polish woman is facing up to 3 years in prison for assaulting a Filipino woman in Wrocław. The 48-year-old used offensive language and threated the foreigner. The victim recorded the incident and published the video on social media. As the video went viral - thanks to the tuwroclaw.com portal - the aggressor has been detained and charged. The prosecutor's office has requested the woman be arrested for two months.

MOD chief: we want German patriots to stay in Poland at least by end of the year

Poland would like German Patriot systems to remain in Poland at least until the end of 2023, the country's Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said on Monday after meeting with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius on Monday (July 3). Pistorius pushed for negotiations on the establishment of a maintenance hub in Poland, to repair Leopard tanks damaged in Ukraine, to be completed within the next 10 days.

Leaders of the EU countries did not reach an agreement regarding conclusions on migration. Hungary and Poland were against the deal in the original form and wanted to introduce their own provisions, but the remaining countries refused to add any new elements - TVN24 correspondent in Brussels Maciej Sokołowski reported on Friday (June 30). However, the agreement did not need to be unanimously approved by member states.

"No, nobody’s forced to accept any immigrants," European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson told "Fakty" TVN on Thursday (June 29). The commissioner added Poland "is a member state that would not be forced to do any solidarity towards other member states". First batch of U.S. Abrams tanks arrive in Szczecin

Bird virus is killing cats in Poland. General Veterinary Inspectorate releases test results

A mysterious disease is attacking cats across Poland.
