Drunk driver and dangerous manouvre result in a shocking accident

Dangerous accident involving two cars in Gdańsk. The vehicles at first collided and then one of them flipped over. The female driver who sustained numerous injuries was taken to a hospital. The driver of the second car was detained by the police because, as it later turned out, he was under the influence of alcohol.

Law and Justice party meeting: changes in the government "any day now"

The ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) has won 27 seats in the European Parliament in the Sunday's elections in Poland. The European Coalition has won 22 seats, whereas Robert Biedroń's Wiosna (Spring) party secured 3 tickets. The official resuts have been published by the National Electoral Commission on Monday. Former PM Beata Szydło, who ran on PiS list, received the highest number of votes in Poland. The second result was secured by Jerzy Buzek, a candidate of European Coalition.

Five Polish ministers have won seats in the European Parliament

There will be changes in the Polish Sejm after the European election. The lower house will lose 16 MPs from Law and Justice and 3 from Civic Platform. Among those who will leave Warsaw for Brussels are: deputy PM Beata Szydło, interior minister Joachim Brudziński, PiS spokesperson Beata Mazurek, as well as former PM Ewa Kopacz and former health minister Bartosz Arłukowicz - both from Civic Platform.

Official results of the European election in Poland

The National Electoral Commission (PKW) announced on Monday afternoon the final results of the election to the European Parliament. The ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) secured 45,38 percent of votes, the European Coalition - 38,47 percent and Wiosna (Spring) party - 6,06 percent. The remaining formations scored results below the minimum 5-percent threshold. The turnout amounted to 45,68 percent.

If Poles voted the same way in this year's parliamentary elections in the fall, like they did in Sunday's European vote, the ruling Law and Justice party would win 233 seats in the Polish lower house, whereas the European Coalition - 201. According to exit polls conducted by IPSOS for TVN24, former Polish PM Beata Szydło (United Right's candidate) has won the highest number of votes in the European election in Poland. Another candidate from this list, Jadwiga Wiśniewska got the second result. Jerzy Buzek and Janina Ochojska have got the best results in the election from among the European Coalition's candidates.

The Government Centre for Security (RCB) has sent out text messages with warnings to the residents of four counties located at the Vistula river, as the flood wave is expected to pass through Lubelskie and Masovian voivodeships. Earlier on, similar alerts were sent out to residents of Świętokrzyskie, Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian voivodeships.
